• VERY IMPORTANT: Whenever you upgrade to a newer version of CopyPaste, you should remember to remove any older versions from the Extensions Folder of your System. Then install the new version and restart.
In Version 4.4.2
• The clips in the Clip Extender are now saved immediatly on changes, which means even thru crashes. All Clips are saved in sub-folders of the new “CopyPasteFolder” in your Preferences folder.
• The clips in the Clip Recorder are now saved thru restart. They are saved independently of the Clip Extender files in a folder “CopyPasteRecorder” in the “CopyPasteFolder” in your Preferences folder.
• The preferences now are not saved at shutdown, but immediately on changes. This should help with preferences file damage which sometimes happened at shutdown.
• The preferences dialogs are reworked, i.e. some obsolete things are removed. The “application exceptions” now presents the front program selected in its menu. The first menu item now gives you the option to select a program on your disk to adjust the options.
• The scrollbars in the Clip Viewer and the Clip Recorder now work as they should.
• The length of the menu items is reduced, so that the submenus on smaller screens will not cover the entire Edit menu, which made it impossible to select items in lower parts of that menu.
• The built-in help system now has a search function.
• If you click the palette's trash can with the option key pressed, the clips are deleted without warning.
• A bug causing random crashes after using the Clip Viewer is fixed.
• Startup problems with some problem extensions are fixed.
• Many Carbon programs somehow handle the clipboards differently. E.g. AppleWorks 6.0 had a problem with pasting the clips, CodeWarrior IDE 4.1 could not copy. I fixed that problem, but I had to remove the “Multipaste” feature.
• A screen saver utility is added to the Misc. menu.
• A speak text utility is added to the Misc. menu.

• If you open the Clip Recorder Palette by clicking the cassette icon with the option key pressed, the Clip Extender Palette will be hidden. If you close the Clip Recorder Palette with option key pressed, the Clip Extender Palette will show again. This simulates the old one-Palette-mode for those with small screens.
In Version 4.4.1
• Version 4.4 crashed if QuickTime was not loaded before CopyPaste at System startup. This is fixed.
• this version recognizes several different types of files you might drag to the Palette. CopyPaste automatically recognizes Sound files, Pict files, Styled Text files, and Text files created with WASTE compatible programs (e.g. Tex-Edit). Additionally it uses QuickTime (if present) to recognize JPEG, GIF and other graphic files. To recognize text files from MS Word, Word Perfect and the like, it uses the Claris XTND technology if present. The text in the clipboard will be in a WASTE compatible format, i.e. you can paste it into Tex-Edit to see the result including embedded pictures. If the text file has no embedded pictures and is less than 32k characters, you can even use SimpleText for futher processing. Thus you have a simple file conversion program which you can use to open a file on the fly and see the content. Great for Readme files! If a file is not recognized, you will only see a Clip entry called <hfs > which displays Name, OSType and OSCreator of the file. If you wish to put the raw content of a file in TEXT format into the clipboard, you simply have to press the command key when you drag the file to the Palette. This allows you to examine the datafork of virtually any file.
• this version introduces a new graphic utility "Compress Picture." It uses QuickTime and allows you to compress a picture clip in various ways. For best results, copy the picture and click on the clipboard to view the picture with the Clipboard Viewer. Then call "Compress Picture." By using JPEG you can shrink it to 10% of the original size. If you paste the picture later, you will need to have QuickTime installed, or the system won’t be able to display the picture.
• version 4.4 had a bug when the ClipRecorder was scrolled. You could not view the right clip, and drag and drop with the ClipRecorder gave unexpected results. This is fixed.

• to reduce overhead in CopyPaste, some of the HTML Utilities are removed, (they are superseded by the "Styled Text to HTML"). Also the ability to execute files with FKEY resources by dragging them to the Palette is removed. Be aware that any hotkeys you might have defined for the Picture or the Internet utilities must be newly defined because of the changes in the menu structure!!
